Overview
Recess rethinks access to sports by unlocking local facilities. Whether it's a rec center, private gym, or church basement court, Recess helps people discover and book play spaces with the ease of ordering a ride. From casual games to serious competition, we built a tool that not only makes real-world play frictionless—it makes it feel like a game in itself.

Problem
Spaces exist. People want to play. But access—and competition—are stuck in the past.
There are thousands of courts and fields sitting empty every day while players scramble to find open slots. On top of that, the experience itself is often uneven—mismatched skill levels, flaky players, and zero ways to track your performance. Recess set out to fix both sides of the experience: better access, and better play.

Solution
Solution
A smarter way to play, book, and level up IRL.
We built Recess as a two-sided marketplace—one part booking platform, one part competitive layer for real-world sports. Hosts can list facilities and manage availability with modern tools. Players can filter by sport, time, and location, and join lobbies matched by ELO-based rankings. Win games, earn points, climb the leaderboard. Recess gamifies pickup sports and builds community around real-time, skill-based play.

Results
Results
More games played. Better games played. A new standard for competitive rec.
Recess launched in college towns and rec communities with strong traction on both sides of the marketplace. Facility owners saw increased bookings. Players came back for the matchmaking, the community—and the bragging rights. As the platform expands, Recess is proving that tech doesn’t have to replace real-world activity. It can make it better.
